Empowering Future Leaders: Apply for the IMPA-BRI Executive Master’s Program at Tsinghua University

The IMPA-BRI program, a collaboration between Tsinghua University and Tanoto Foundation China, presents an opportunity for individuals eager to play a role in shaping the future of global public policy, particularly within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). This prestigious program aims to cultivate the next generation of public policy leaders who will help steer the BRI’s success across participating countries.
Through this program, you will receive a full scholarship from the Tanoto Foundation, which will cover all tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, field trips, research costs, and medical insurance fees for the duration of the program. This support ensures students focus entirely on their academic journey and leadership development.
The one-year, full-time Master’s program is offered in English and held at Tsinghua University, one of China’s most renowned institutions. Students will dive deep into topics such as public policy, governance, leadership, and China’s role in global development.
The program’s academic courses, alongside specialized training in leadership and policy analysis, are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to make significant contributions to the public sector.
Why IMPA-BRI?
Tsinghua University, one of China’s most prestigious institutions, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024, Tsinghua University is ranked 17th globally. Tsinghua University has been a driving force in public administration education. Established in 2000, Tsinghua School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) is the first graduate school in public administration in China. With a global outlook, it aims to train future leaders who can navigate complex global public affairs.
In July 2013, Tsinghua’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program received the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) Accreditation, which was the first MPA program outside the United States to receive NASPAA Accreditation. In August 2022, Tsinghua MPA program passed the NASPAA accreditation again, and has become the only program in China that has received a second NASPAA Accreditation.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Non-Chinese citizenship (from BRI participating countries)
• 5+ years of professional experience (senior government officials, enterprise managers, or academic leaders preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
• Strong English proficiency
• Applicants must be under 45 years of age and in good health

• Two academic recommendation letters
• English proficiency results (if applicable)
