How Celebrity Arumi Bachsin and Politician Emil Dardak Educate Their Children

In the new episode of Tanoto Foundation Bincang Inspiratif Podcast, host Bayu Oktara sits down with actress-turned-celebrity Arumi Bachsin to delve into how she and her husband, politician Emil Dardak, manage the education of their three children amidst their hectic schedules. As Emil juggles his role as the Democratic Party chairman of East Java and prepares for the upcoming gubernatorial election, the couple balances parenting with their demanding public lives.

The conversation revealed several intriguing insights into how they approach parenting:

Arumi explains how setting priorities helps her manage her responsibilities between supporting her husband and nurturing their children. As their kids—10-year-old Lakeisha, 5-year-old Alkeinan, and 3-year-old Kalendra—grow older, the challenges evolve. From helping with homework to being present at school, Arumi candidly shares how it’s a constant juggling act.

When it comes to screen time, Arumi has set clear boundaries. The kids are allowed one hour of gadget use each day during weekdays and have more flexibility on weekends. Outdoor activities like swimming, basketball, and futsal are encouraged, and Arumi insists that a structured routine is key. “Consistency is important,” she says, adding that rules are discussed with the children ahead of time, including the consequences for breaking them.

Arumi emphasizes the importance of adjusting to the mindset of Generation Alpha. She avoids getting openly angry with her children and believes in staying close, especially as they grow older and start keeping secrets from their parents. “Even when they’re adults, I want to maintain that closeness,” she reflects.

Though Emil’s work keeps him extremely busy, he remains involved in major parenting decisions. Arumi takes charge of the daily routines, but when issues escalate, Emil steps in. “We have the same values, even if our methods differ,” she explains, underscoring that they consult each other on all important matters related to their children.
